Little Doors

Alice, key in hand, pulls aside a curtain to discover the door to Wonderland.
from Lewis Carroll, John Tenniel, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865)

I’m reading an ebook that appears to have been unofficially scanned from hard copy, with occasional blips of uncorrected OCR like ‘befcre’ or ‘unflcused’ or ‘resefved’ or ‘:razy’ or ‘hut’ where you would expect ‘but’.  Sometimes puzzling strings with missing vowels like ‘intr dcrtrs’, ‘bsns’ and ‘rsdnce’.

Or was it? I am reading Little, Big by the late John Crowley after all. Each typographical solecism I feel might be akin to any one of the many portals to other worlds that appear in the novel, ‘the entrance to somewhere, and not to be entered upon by the uninvited.’
