| Introduction | Collected here are some materials drawn from ongoing research into the history of the word voodoo in English.
| They include The V Word, a draft outline of that history; some remarks on a much-quoted vodou chant; and a selection of texts concerning vaudoux and voodoo transcribed from English- and French-language sources from the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
Many of these texts are provisional, pending final checks and proof-reading against the originals. Where they are still in draft form, this is indicated in the preliminary remarks that precede each one. |
